2.The biggest core advantage of COG display is its highly integrated structure. By directly attaching the IC chip to the glass substrate, it removes the stacked structure of PCB boards and connectors, greatly reducing the overall thickness and border width of the display module. Compared with traditional COB display modules, the thickness of COG display can be reduced by 30%–50%, and the narrow bezel design can be realized on the peripheral of the screen, which effectively improves the screen-to-body ratio of terminal equipment. This advantage is irreplaceable for portable and miniaturized electronic products with strict space size limits.
3.The signal transmission path of COG display is extremely short. The driver IC is directly connected to the glass electrode, avoiding signal attenuation, delay, and electromagnetic interference caused by long-distance transmission of PCB circuits and flexible cables. Its core feature is mounting the driver IC chip on a dedicated PCB circuit board, completing circuit conduction through soldering and encapsulation, and then connecting the PCB board with the LCD glass screen via flexible connectors. A COB display (Chip On Board) refers to an LCD module where the driver IC is mounted directly onto a printed circuit board (PCB) and protected with epoxy resin.
